MicroRNA-based Molecular Diagnostic Test for Mesothelioma and Lung Cancer

The recently discovered and naturally occurring microRNAs (miRNAs) act as master regulators and have the potential to form the basis for a new class of diagnostics and therapeutics. Since many diseases are caused by the abnormal activity of proteins, the ability to selectively regulate protein activity through microRNAs could provide the means to treat a wide range of human diseases.

Rosetta Genomics, a Philadelphia-based developer of microRNA-based molecular diagnostic tests, has developed a comprehensive mesothelioma diagnosis exam that is now commercially available. The test is the third microRNA-based diagnostic test created by the lab and is known as miRview™ meso. miRview™ meso differentiates mesothelioma, a cancer connected to asbestos exposure, from other carcinomas in the lung. Currently, there is no single diagnostic test that is entirely conclusive for this differentiation.

Scare Report: Vitamin Supplements offer Negative Effect against Cancer

In my earlier post (http://mesotheliomacancernewsinformation.blogspot.com/2008/11/vitamin-c-opt-for-cancer-treatment.html), I have mentioned that supplement of Vitamin C is a new and different solution for the cancer treatment. But the recent research and studies performed in the United States show that there is no effect on the risk of cancer though injecting Vitamin supplements. The new studies proved that taking the Vitamins have no beneficial result in the rate of cancer development.

Most of the patients and victims affected by the cancer get disappointed after hearing such a panic information.
